The swords are sharp, the monsters fierce, and the stakes higher than ever but all eyes are on one thing: Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher season 4. When Henry Cavill announced his departure, fans feared the series would lose its soul. After all, Cavill’s deep growl, unshakable intensity, and passionate commitment to the source material had made him the face of the franchise. Could Hemsworth, best known for The Hunger Games, really step into that legacy?
The good news is that he can, at least enough to keep the magic alive. Hemsworth’s version of Geralt brings a rugged physicality and slightly warmer edge to the monster hunter’s persona. He may not mimic Cavill’s gruff personality perfectly, but he doesn’t try to either, allowing his own interpretation to emerge gradually. While longtime viewers might take an episode or two to adjust, the transition feels surprisingly seamless and respectful to the character’s roots.
